County Ordinances

Welcome to Deadwood County, established and currently in the year 1885!

We're so very happy you're here! Please change your name in the discord to represent your in-county character as soon as possible, and read the rules for Discord below to ensure that no punishments are issued for being misinformed.

Our rules are designed to keep Deadwood a safe and welcoming place for all citizens. Violation of these rules can result in users being muted, warned, or eventually banned from all platforms.

Always create a ticket to get in contact with the team or pass along feedback or get help with issues in and out of county.

Deadwood County is considered serious RP and requires all players to be 18+. This includes character ages as well.

Roleplay and the Expectation

We put storytelling above all else. We want players to create narratives and interact rather than resorting to immediate violence. If disputes arise, roleplay should come before conflict. Our aim is to give depth to our characters, not to turn the server into a shoot-em-up. The goal is meaningful interactions and comprehensive storytelling.

Progression and pacing are vital for the health of the server. We expect everyone to slowly burn their story from nothing to something great. For instance, if a player assumes the role of a deputy, they should not start their storyline as the town's hero who can solve every case with ease. Instead, they should begin as a rookie officer, learning the ropes, making mistakes, and gradually gaining experience and respect. As they navigate through their roleplay journey, they will encounter crimes that will instill fear, doubt, and stress in them, just like any new Deputy or Law Enforcement would feel in real life.

Similarly, if a player chooses to play a criminal character, they shouldn't start as a notorious crime lord with an extensive criminal empire, or robbing banks within the first 4 days of character creation. They should begin their journey in small petty crimes, experiencing fear of being caught, making wrong decisions, and slowly working their way up the criminal ladder. Their character's growth should reflect the trials, tribulations, and lessons learned from their actions.

Instant action may provide immediate thrill, but it robs the character of the chance to develop naturally and meaningfully. By starting from humble beginnings and allowing characters to experience fear and other emotions, you ensure a more in-depth, credible character development. It also makes the roleplay more rewarding as players witness their characters grow, adapt, and evolve over time.

Min/Maxing also applies here. No matter the standing of your character in regards to wealth or experience, doing everything in your power to minimize weaknesses and maximizing strengths of your character through things like monopolizing or dominating markets, features, server additions without proper progression, storytelling and roleplay to get you there is strictly forbidden. This is not WoW, RunesScape or an MMORPG.

This rule enhances the overall roleplay experience by creating a sense of realism, fairness and relatability. For instance, the deputy's fear and uncertainty in the face of crime can lead to a more profound character arc as they overcome their fears and become a more competent officer and stray away from the "robo-cop" mentality that many fall into. Similarly, the criminal's initial fear of getting caught can lead to a compelling narrative of survival and cunning, and ultimately end in criminals that deserve to be remembered in the servers history/lore.

Characters

Keep in mind the 1885 timeframe for your character’s names, appearances, and mannerisms. Make sure your behavior and interactions are realistic to the time period! If your name is too modern, inappropriate, disrespectful, etc., you will be asked to change it.

While we’re set in 1885, we’re playing in 2025. Refrain from any ‘-isms’ of the time that might have been prevalent then, but are harmful to players behind the keyboard.

In Character Vs. Out of Character

Players should remain in character at all times. Using /status to state you are afk or imh is never acceptable. Doing so will result in an automatic one-day ban. If you must go in your head for a moment, find somewhere secluded or log out.

When OOC is Acceptable

  • Per admin request

  • For a brief teaching moment to help new players (Out of Town Limits)

  • When you are away from all RP scenarios and out of town limits, with FULL consent from ALL party members.

    • "May I speak out of my imagination for a moment?"

    • “Can I speak freely?”

Conversation within the Discord

  • No harassment, threats, excessive insults or negativity towards others. Deadwood does not have space for hate speech, discrimination, mockery, spam or offensive material. This includes any and all -isms that may seem hurtful to those behind the keyboard.

  • If someone breaks the rules, refrain from "call outs" or "name-calling." We do not use discord to air grievances. Always use the ticket system, if you suspect someone has broken the rules.

  • If you are providing feedback to players or staff members, always speak kindly and respectfully. Your comments and suggestions should always add value to the conversation. Never put down or speak condescendingly towards someone else. If you're unsure whether what you want to say is kind or not, keep it to yourself or open a ticket.

Alternate Discords

  • You are allowed to have an alternate discord wherein you communicate with members of Deadwood. HOWEVER, if we receive proof of any instance of metagaming, which is the mixing of IC and OOC knowledge in game, we will intervene and hand out consequences where we deem necessary.

  • To help prevent any confusion, you can always add an admin or staff member! We would love to be a part of the conversation, but it is not required.

Breakage of these rules or not following the guidelines laid out can result in removal from all platforms. Being kind, respectful, and courteous to everyone is extremely important to the team, and all things can be handled with positive conversation and an open mind. If you need anything or have any questions, please let us know.

To appeal your ban, open an “Founder Support” ticket. Admins will review and discuss your appeal request.

FAIL RP / OOC / NVL

  • Breaking character during a scene

  • Not fearing for your life: i.e. running towards gunfire or explosions

  • Not roleplaying out injuries appropriately

  • Breaking hogties or blindfolds

  • RDM / Vehicle Deathmatch. This includes random killing of a local(s).

  • Utilizing game mechanics in an unrealistic way.

  • Generally non-serious or not-1885-appropriate behavior or language.

  • Combat Logging (Reviving, Respawning, Disconnecting during a scene)

  • Rule-splaining: If someone breaks a rule in RP, continue to play out the scene as best you can and open a ticket.

Low Quality Roleplay

Low Quality RP is defined as any roleplay that lacks depth, effort, or realism, and undermines the immersive experience for others. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Poor Character Development: Acting without a clear or believable character motive; switching personalities or allegiances without reason.

  • Minimal Effort Interactions: Using one-liners or non-descriptive actions during important scenes. This includes existing scenes and previous scenes that have occurred where a player shows no effort or understanding of consequences from previous scenarios.

  • Unrealistic Behavior: Performing actions that would be impossible or highly unlikely in the given setting (e.g., surviving fatal injuries without medical RP, pulling weapons from nowhere).

  • Ignoring Consequences: Refusing to acknowledge injuries, arrests, or story developments; immediately returning to conflict without reason.

  • Improper Use of Mechanics: Using game systems (emotes, animations, combat mechanics) in ways that clearly break immersion or give unfair advantages.

  • Lack of Engagement: Avoiding meaningful interaction, refusing to communicate, or showing disinterest in progressing scenes.

Harassment

Deadwood County has a ZERO tolerance for any kind of harassment. Harassment includes any behavior towards a person that causes mental or emotional suffering, which includes repeated unwanted contacts without a reasonable purpose, insults, threats, offensive language, or sexual/sexist comments and catcalling.

Deadwood County Staff

Deadwood County Staff dedicate and volunteer their time for the quality and betterment of the server. When engaging with staff in either the discord or private tickets, you must remain respectful when speaking in tickets. This includes tickets not being handled in your favor. Staff Decision is final unless a discrepancy has been found. However, respect goes both ways. If a Deadwood County Staff Member is hostile or condescending in a ticket and you have displayed no hostility, you may request a higher level of Government to handle your ticket and address the conduct of the Staff Member for it to be handled accordingly. This applies in public channels as well. If a Staff Member is being disrespectful in any Platform of Deadwood County, please open a Community Manager ticket to address.

Always follow the Golden Rule: Treat others the way you wish to be treated.

Metagaming/Powergaming/Forced RP

  • Metagaming is the use of out-of-character knowledge to influence your character’s story and interactions IC

  • Targeting players fresh off the train/boat (I.E. Robbery, Hostage, ConflictRP, etc etc.)

  • No forms of forced roleplay are ever permitted

  • Dismemberment, Torture, Sexual Assault, Forcing a Perma-Death, or other power-dynamic roleplay is not permitted.  (Torture CAN be permitted with approval from Staff via ticket and permission from receiving party via OOC in ticket and IC before torture begins)

  • Using game items to force other players into a situation

  • Adult-oriented or Erotic roleplay is permitted, HOWEVER it must be in private and with the consent of all parties

  • Forcing players to spawn in their wagon or horse to steal items is prohibited

  • Forcing a player to withdraw money is prohibited

  • Robberies/Drug Sales/ConflictRP are NOT allowed 15 minutes before or 15 minutes after restart/storm

Lawless Towns

  • Van Horn

  • Thieves Landing

  • ALL Reservations (Wapiti, Lakota, Blackfoot)

  • Mexico

  • Guarma

You are NOT allowed to sell drugs in these areas. If caught doing so, you will be charged with Power Gaming.

Exploiting

  • Duping items and not reporting

  • Using bugs to your advantage without reporting

  • Money exploiting or abusing starter cash

  • Modding

  • Using NUI tools in game

IF YOU FIND A BUG, REPORT IT.

RDM/VDM

RDM/VDM on other players, NPC's, or non-game animals (Horses, Cats, Dogs, etc etc) without a valid RP reason will not be tolerated.

Sensitive RP Guidelines

  • Suicide/Perma Roleplay

Suicide RP is NEVER allowed. Participating in this RP as a bystander or as the directly affected player will result in a permanent ban. If you are looking to perma your character, you must open a ticket with staff, and we will discuss the OOC/IC ramifications to ensure you are adhering to the rules.

  • -ism Roleplay

Remember that any -isms from the 1800s are not allowed, as they can be offensive to the players behind the keyboard. Any -ism RP will result in a permanent ban from the server.

  • Pregnancy Roleplay

  1. No Forced Pregnancies or Non-consensual Scenarios: All participants involved in a pregnancy storyline must provide explicit and informed consent.

  2. No Miscarriage or Loss of Child Storylines: This includes detailed descriptions, discussions, or storylines surrounding the loss of a fictional pregnancy or child.

  1. No Coercion for Abortion

  1. No Kidnapping or Hostage Situations: Participants are strictly prohibited from engaging in role play scenarios that involve the kidnapping or holding hostage of characters who are pregnant or their children. This applies for the pregnant player as well. You are not allowed to insert/involve yourself in Conflict RP for the duration of pregnancy.

Staff Oversight

  • Pregnancy roleplay must be pre-approved via an out-of-character written agreement by all involved parties before initiation. This approval will happen in the form of an admin-support ticket.

  • The full term of the pregnancy must last for a period of six real-life weeks.

  • This RP should have serious considerations, being a part of your story in a meaningful way.

  • Your children are not playable characters, and they should not be brought into the public's eye for at least 3 real-life months. After 3 months, your children can become adults and can be played by another player.

  • If you are pregnant or post-pregnancy with child in hand, you should RP that way, NOT getting into any gunfights or altercations.

  • Kidnapping of any child is STRICTLY prohibited

By adhering to these guidelines, we aim to foster a community that values the well-being and comfort of all its members. Pregnancy roleplay can be a positive and enriching aspect of our storytelling, and it is crucial to approach it with empathy, understanding, and a commitment to maintaining a supportive environment for everyone.

Posse/Gang Camps

  • Cannot be located on or near properties you do not own.

  • Cannot be located near popular landmarks (Bottle tree, Waterfalls, Cultist House, Dilapidated Fort, etc.)

  • Cannot be located near or on legendary animal spawns.

  • Should not be located within view of city/town limits unless well hidden.

  • Should not be on or near major paths throughout the map.

  • Should not be located in or near caves with mining nodes.

  • Can be placed to hold a spot for a home, BUT if someone is ready to build on a place where a camp is, that camp is no longer safe.

If your camp currently violates this, please pick it up and move it asap. Any camp placed in any of the areas mentioned above will be deleted Once Found Or Reported NO QUESTIONS ASKED.

Gang Camp Raiding Rules

  • Gang Camp Raids are considered a KOS event

  • Gang Camp Raids require 4 players awake in that respective gang to be raided

  • Once you initiate, you cannot cancel the Gang Camp Raid. The raided gang will receive the alert and the event has started. Prepare to defend.

  • Defenders of Gang Camps can start engaging at any distance. No interaction is required prior to shots being fired.

  • Gang Camp Raids CANNOT be used solely as storyline progression or a gang war, HOWEVER, can be used in an interaction of questioning the raid to progress the story line.

Alternate Characters/Character Bleeding

We encourage players to play more than one character or storyline if they so desire. However - alternate characters must operate in different geographic locations (Lemoyne/New Hanover for One Character - West Elizabeth/New Austin for the other for example) within Deadwood County. Scenario specific events such as Bank Robberies, Train Robberies, Major Criminal Heists, etc etc you are allowed to cross and operate on the same side AS LONG AS you do not influence an organization that houses or coincides with other characters. Your character MAY operate in the same geographical location via permission from the Deadwood County Staff Team so that they are aware and can monitor any character bleeding. This is NOT guaranteed and will be approved on a case-by-case basis.

They should have no, or limited, knowledge of their player’s other characters. They are different people who live different, separate lives from each other. A given player's characters are not allowed to interact between themselves in any way.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Using funds from one character to purchase items for another character

  • Sending meta information between two characters through telegrams or other means

  • Characters injuring each other “off-screen”

  • Referring to your alternate character in any way (i.e. “my other pair of boots,” or “my cousin”)

  • Having multiple of one player’s characters hired at the same business or posse camp

  • Having multiple characters in the same gang or business group

  • Transferring any items, money, horses, wagons, etc. between characters

  • Making purchases or selling to businesses, Market Stalls, or Market Board orders belonging to the other character

Special Clause:

Alternate characters CANNOT be related to your main, unless your main character has been permanently removed from the server. And these relations to your main must still follow the alternate character guidelines. Which means your alt “should have no, or limited, knowledge of their player’s other characters.”

  • Your alt should not enter play until your prior character has been deleted.

The player chooses one side only; no flip-flopping between characters in the midst of scenes and stories. Law characters must also recuse themselves from creating and playing as a criminal character, or playing with any groups that criminals are affiliated with.

Character Swapping:

Players are NOT allowed to swap between their characters before/during/after interacting in a scenario. An example of this would be:

Lawman Player A observes a scenario occurring with a gang he is associated with on an alternate character and Lawman Player A disconnects and rejoins as Criminal Player B to join in on the scenario occurring. This is considered Metagaming and Powergaming and will result in punitive action. 15 minutes AT MINIMUM must pass after observing the scenario or the scenario ending before being able to change characters.

Crim/Law Alts and Corruption:

If you are a lawman, and you choose to be corrupt or have a criminal and law character, please know that you are held to a higher standard of trust. You are privy to information that could be easily meta’d, capable of ruining story lines. Therefore, punishments for meta, in this capacity, will have more severe punishments. Be extra careful with your RP, ensuring any and all information you receive is acquired in game and does not tie back to your alt in any way.

If caught metagaming or powergaming, you will, along with metagaming/powergaming punishment, be required to choose between having a law or criminal character for an extended time of 3 real-life months. Afterwards, if you haven’t broken any rules, you will be allowed to have a crim alt again and/or apply for corruption on your law character.

  • Corruption Tickets must be opened before any corruption occurs

  • You must adhere to any rules listed in the law/medical SOP documents.

Conflict RP Rules

Having conflict with another player without a valid roleplay reason and appropriate interaction is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated.

Verbal Initiation is a requirement before any fight happens. This means that EVERYONE involved in the scene must have an opportunity to seriously RP before conflict erupts.

  • Wearing a mask is an indication of criminal intent, indicating potential conflict.

  • If you have snipers, then the party you're dealing with must know about them, and you MUST be able to provide a visual cue to your snipers for them to open fire.

  • Hostile Verbal Engagement with someone is considered the start of conflict and drawing a weapon without prior engagement is a violation of initiation rules.

  • The goal should be roleplay, not gunplay.

  • Using a gun should be a last resort. Use your words over your gun. Be smart. Make your story rich in detail, not just a gunslinger.

SPEAK BEFORE YOU SHOOT.

Gunfights

Gunfights are a major portion of ConflictRP, however gunfights must remain realistic with actual human interaction and movement applied to them:

  • Strafing during a gunfight is prohibited (Ex: Engaging a player and moving left and right in an unrealistic manner).

  • “Warlording”: Engaging in a gunfight in close proximity and pushing players over to engage them on the ground while they are stuck in the standing up animation.

  • Being wounded during Gunfight(s): If applicable, a player who is in the gunfight should RP out being hit without being downed to add realism to the gunfight. Keep in mind, during a gunfight a person would have a substantial amount of adrenaline, often causing them to not react to gunshot wounds or pain, however Deadwood County is all about Serious Roleplay so being hit during combat should be RP’d out as much as possible to provide that realism.

  • Running Mouth while Downed: Once you are downed in a gunfight, you are NOT allowed to engage in verbal conflict with the opposing side or taunt. This includes callouts, information or guidance that cannot be seen through players eyes, or advice to remaining fighters in the conflict.

+1/-1 Rule

IF you are to purposefully engage with another group with hostile intent, whether verbal or with action, you must ensure you are doing so having 1 more or 1 less than that group.

For instance, if you are rolling with 3 people, you can only engage in ConflictRP with groups 2, 3, or 4 people. (1+ than you have or -1 than you have).

If you are a small group and approach a larger group and get wrecked, neither group is in violation of the +1/-1. (if brought to staff for such, will likely result in an NVL ruling for the smaller group trying to take on the larger one.)

During active scenes, you CANNOT lie about numbers. In order for us to follow the +1/-1 rule, you need to disclose the correct information. If you lie, and you have less, and your group is downed, don't open a ticket. If you lie and have more, every person on your side is getting a ban for violating this rule.

This rule, like all rules in this document, is judged on a case-by-case basis, but this paragraph is our attempt to establish an understanding of how we, as staff, will handle +1/-1 rule violation reports.

Law Interactions

Law Enforcement in Deadwood County deal with a plethora of issues on a daily basis in just simply doing their job. To maintain a fun environment for Law Enforcement, a series of rules are in place to provide relief for Law Enforcement to allow them to maintain order and progress storylines.

  • Fear of Law: Law must be feared for the repercussions that can be issued after a criminal act. Your character should play in the mindset that they are protecting their life and their organization's life when committing violent or illegal acts (Ex: Jailbreaking your gang member EVERY time they are arrested, even for the most minor of offenses.)

  • Win-Win Mentality: When RPing as a criminal, acknowledge the fact that your RP needs to be fun for all sides. Always trying to get a win often results in repeated attacks against the opposing party who has a disadvantage. As a criminal, it is ok to take a loss every now and again for the progression of the story and the overall atmosphere in the county.

  • Law Enforcement Numbers Rule: In order to engage in ConflictRP with Law Enforcement, there has to be 4 or more deputies on duty in the same department. However, if Law Enforcement has 3 or less and engages in an arrest or initiates conflict, this rule does not apply.

Robbery/Hostage RP

  • Hostages cannot be aware of robbery plans. They should fear for their life. The hostages need to be random, not someone associated with the robbers or inside of your organization. This includes alternate characters. This can be considered metagaming and will result in punishment.

  • Player-to-player robberies should be RP'd BEFORE the person is tied up and searched.

  • You should either rob or kill. NEVER both.

    • However, if the player being robbed is not fearing for their life and is not acting as a victim, you may down that player after the robbing has occurred.

  • You cannot rob or engage in conflict with players when you’re not sure if they are in their menus or not.

    • This means being mindful and not engaging when players are near blips on the map. (inside stores, crafting tables, mining nodes, etc.)

    • If they are having a conversation with you and moving around, it doesn’t matter if they are near a blip. They can be engaged with.

  • You cannot rob or engage in conflict with anyone who was alerted to a scene. Alerting a doctor, horse trainer, barber, lawman, etc. and robbing them while they are on a call is considered baiting or power gaming.

When taking players hostage, ensure that you’re keeping them less than 30 minutes of real-world time. If an officer is taken hostage, ensure there are enough officers on duty to handle other players’ concerns, not just your scenario.

Most importantly; consider how often you participate in criminal or outlaw roleplay. While it’s all in good fun to take on these criminal activities, too-frequent robberies can become a nuisance and feel like griefing to other players.

  • Try not to commit more robberies than the towns around you & their law enforcement can handle. Make sure to give it a break every once in a while! Good criminals are wise about when it’s time to go into hiding and plot their next moves.

  • Remember that the person behind the other keyboard is also spending their free time trying to have fun in this game. Robbing the same person or group multiple times a day can frustrate them; and we want all players to feel like they have a chance at playing the RP they’re most interested in.

Banks/General Stores/Train Robberies

Law and Crim are to follow these number restrictions listed below when engaging in these specific robberies.

  • General Stores: 4

  • Banks: 6

  • Trains: 6

  • Forts: 6

  • Art Gallery: 6

Law is not to go over the numbers above when they respond to these alerts. They should coordinate before they get to the scene, ensuring they don’t have to awkwardly count heads. If more respond to the scene, the extras MUST LEAVE the area entirely. They should NOT wait around and watch from afar. This means leaving the entire town or region.

Criminal gangs, on the same hand, should not begin any of these robbery scenes with more than the numbers prescribed above. Criminal gangs have the advantage to plan accordingly, and should take full advantage of doing so. Criminals not involved should NOT wait around and watch from afar. This means leaving the entire town or region.

What can I steal?

  • 50% cash on person

  • Equipped weapon(s)

  • 2 full stacks of items

Stealing more than allowed can potentially result in an automatic 3-day ban. Pocket Wiping will result in a permanent one.

Instead of stealing from a player you may steal from their horse or wagon. The above limit to what you can steal applies to the horse and wagon, though you may steal a weapon from the horse or wagon. You may steal from the player and horse/wagon, but you may not exceed the above limit in total. (i.e. all cash, 1 equipped weapon, 1 stack from the player, 1 stack from their horse)

For hidden weapons, such as machetes, bolas, etc., you may steal them IF they were seen using them within the current scene. For example, you see Lani cut down a gang of wolves outside Valentine with a Machete. So when you rob her, you take her machete. This act would be acceptable. Otherwise, leave unseen items in their pockets.

Unattended crops and fish traps may be stolen, however, you MUST leave a scene with some hint as to who did it. This is an RP server and stealing without giving something for players to pursue is Fail RP.

You may not break out of hogties, bolas, etc. unless:

  • You are left alone for at least 5 minutes

  • You have consent from everyone involved

  • A friend has cut you free

New Life Rule/Hazy Memory

Do not re-engage in a situation after you’ve been downed. If your character is downed, you have a few options:

  • If you choose to revive/respawn, you will not remember anything about what happened. You may not reference it or use it to re-engage. This is called “seeing the light”.

  • If you are brought to a local doctor or revived by a player doctor, you will have hazy memories of what led to your being knocked unconscious, including the last 30 minutes. You do not forget everything, but you must RP that some details are missing and you need to gather the pieces before having a full memory.

We do not allow ‘double-tap’ (blowing someone’s head off) or ‘body dumping’ (placing someone’s body somewhere unreachable) to prevent medical RP from reviving the player in question. If your goal is to put them in the river to kill them, then make sure you get them back to the shore so doctors can reach them if called upon.

Hazy Memory Guidelines: After being brought up by a local doctor or player doctor, you are allowed to remember 2 details from the scene:

  • Appearance

    • Clothing colors

    • Height/Weight

    • Distinguishing marks (mustache, scars, etc.)

  • Voice

    • What they said (you CANNOT identify by sound. That breaks the Voice Identification rule)

  • Logistics

    • How many people were there

    • Information regarding their tools or weapon

    • Horse information

    • Cart information, if applicable

Remembering everything about a person is a violation of the rules. Please be mindful of hazy memories when you find yourself in conflict. We understand that people mess up, but your adherence to the rules we set forth will help enhance the RP of those around you.

Voice Identification

Voice recognition should not play a role in identifying a player. A character can be identified via other indicators, such as: gun wraps, attire, horse, hairstyles, etc.

Masks can properly conceal your identity, but it must be done properly. Lazy use of masks doesn't guarantee anonymity. For instance, if you run around the corner of the building, place a mask on, but you still have on the same attire you had before, you shouldn't expect anyone to think you are someone different. Our goal is to encourage quality RP when trying to conceal identity. This includes masks that cover half of the face. The portion that is seen can still be used to identify who you are.

Uses of Lassos

Lassos are a useful tool to everyone in county. Lassos can be used to RESTRAIN (ie. they surrendered, they are acting unreasonable but not violent, etc.) another character in a way that is reasonable in RP, but should not be used to SUBDUE (ie. chasing someone who has a gun drawn, charging a lawman who is armed, etc.) another character when you would have reason to Fear For Life or it doesn't make sense in RP. Lassos should NEVER be used once a gun is drawn. You should match force for force.

Fear of Life

Act in RP scenarios as though your life is most important. Fear for Life is meant to lay out how you engage in conflict, NOT to prevent you from being able to defend yourself.

If conflict arises, and you have no valid reason to engage, then you should:

  • Avoid, if possible

  • De Escalate and try to prevent violence from arising

  • Defend yourself, only after 1 and 2 have been attempted.

Once your character has been initiated into RP conflict, your character should simply behave the way your character would sensibly behave. Criminals should expect two different outcomes. When attempting to rob: A peaceful baker vs an off-duty lawman. Those two characters are probably not going to respond the same way.

Vigilantism

Vigilantism is NOT ALLOWED. In most cases, Fear for Life is ignored when a player engages in vigilantism, so please consider both of these things when deciding whether or not to engage in a scene. A player should be able to make an argument for why they engaged in an altercation, and it should include RP motivations.

A few exceptions would be: A lawman directly asks you to assist in law enforcement while RP A group engages another group while following the rules of engagement. A player involved in an RP relationship (family, spouse, etc.) with another player engages in a scene following the rules of engagement.

Prison Breaks

If you are attempting to break someone out of Jail or Sisika, law are not expected to abide by the +1/-1 rule. Please see the FAFO rule under Group Conflict.

Medical and Law RP

Medical and Law RP should be taken seriously. Once you alert law or medical, you are initiating RP, so leaving the scene or refusing to RP appropriately will constitute as Fail RP.

***During an Active Scene, if you cannot visibly see a local, you CANNOT alert a doctor/lawperson,etc.***

Medical

  • If you are downed, and you call for a doctor, you are to play out your injuries completely.

  • Remember that you are only “downed,” and not “dead.” You only “die,” when you perma.

  • You do NOT have to be silent if you are downed. You also do NOT have to talk.

    • That being said, if you are downed, use /me or have whoever is there with you explain what happened, so doctors aren’t left guessing. Help the RP. You called for the doctor. So make sure you RP with them.

    • Do not alert for medical/healer while you are in an active scene. Wait until the conflict is over.

  • If you choose to RP specific injuries, please consider the potential impact those injuries will have on your storyline. Deadwood is considered serious RP, so only realistic injuries are permitted, and those injuries will stay with you and affect your RP. If you fall off a cliff and claim you fractured your spine, for example,  you better not be riding your horse as fast as you can the next day.

  • Injuries are player-dictated. Medical cannot force injuries on your person so you need to be clear and concise with communicating what is injured in each scenario. However, if you tell the Doctor that you were shot in the head or any other lethal injury, YOU ARE DEAD and need to put in a Perma Kill Application and roleplay accordingly.

  • Abusing the Medical Staff by constantly injuring or downing your character repeatedly without proper RP will be considering Low Quality RP and NVL.

Law

  • If you are in the middle of a situation that requires law assistance, the same applies. Cooperate with the law assisting you, and play out the scene completely before disengaging.

  • If you are downed, and the law must take you to a doctor or you need to use "/calldoctor," be sure to cooperate fully. Any attack on law during this exchange will result in consequences for Fail RP.

ALL

  • Baiting anyone you alert to a scene is NOT allowed. Continuously alerting a player in order to rob, take them hostage, kill, or gain their attention is considered baiting and won't be tolerated.

  • If you have been kidnapped or are being robbed, and no locals are in sight, you are NOT to call for law. Doing so will result in Fail RP.

Robbing Medical Staff

  • Robbing doctors that are on call or immediately following a call (5 min) is not allowed.

  • Doctors that are on duty, but not on a call, may be robbed.

  • If the robbery of a doctor is initiated and the Doctor is on a call, the Doctor should announce to them IC that they are on a call, at which point the robber must disengage. (This applies to receiving the alert, going to the patient, and then treating the patient ‘in the field’)

Anyone who fails to RP appropriately will be subjected to fail RP consequences mentioned in the Rules Breaks and Consequences section listed above.

Group/Gang RP

  • Groups should be hospitable to strangers.

  • No criminal group may exceed 15 players. Each group leader must make a ticket to the administrators, submitting a roster of all 15 players. This includes engaging in Conflict RP across multiple groups. (Ex. Gang A and Gang B wish to engage in ConflictRP with Law Enforcement. Gang A can bring half the numbers and Gang B can bring half the numbers in order to comply with the +1/-1 Rule. This includes engagements with rival gangs. Numbers must be matched in order to engage in Conflict RP.)

  • Characters who are part of known criminal groups cannot hold another whitelisted job such as medical, realtor or law enforcement.

  • Groups who do not plan to participate in criminal, player to player conflict, do not have to submit a roster, and said group can exceed the group limit. However, if said group plans to engage in any criminal activity or engage in conflict with a known gang, they must submit a roster and adhere to the Gang War regulations laid out below.

  • This limitation does not apply to riding group size, UNLESS the group decides to engage in conflict.

Gang Wars: Fighting each other for power or territory is awesome RP! However, we want gang leads to be in OOC agreement on the ‘terms’ of these interactions.

  • Please submit a ticket with the proposal for your war.

  • Where it’s happening, which groups are involved, any other key information.

  • Gang Identifiers: hats, sashes, coats or coordinated outfit colors

  • Make sure each gang is given a fighting chance and proper initiation.

  • Group leadership are responsible for making all of their members aware of the situation.

  • All roleplay rules must be followed.

Native/Tribe RP

Tribe Group Size:

20 members maximum for an active roster.

To start an official tribe, open a staff ticket with the player’s discord names and character names at the ready.

Native RP:

Tribes must have members of known native people with heavily influenced cultural beliefs and traditions that can be found in the foundation of their character. These characters are played by people who RP their characters as though they have native backgrounds. (This does NOT mean you have to be native in real life)

If you don't want to be a player of native heritage, you may still join a tribe, but it should be noted that your background should be relevant to the tribe (adoption as a child, having a native family member that encouraged your character to grow up with the Native way of life, marriage, other creative storylines, etc.)

The aim is never to exclude, but to respect. We don't want people stretching their characters' stories thin or taking anything away from Native roleplay. Making an alternate character that is native is always an option as well! If you have any questions about your specific storyline, please open a ticket.

Leaving Scenes

  • No Character may have more than 5 scenes, any scenes above this limit will be deleted without notice

  • When leaving an RP scene, you must leave some indication of who you are

  • If you commit a crime when no one is around, you must leave a scene that leaves some sort of way for the person to follow up. Remember that the point is RP!

  • Repeated scenes without follow up will be considered harassment

Notice Boards

  • All posts to the in-game Notice Board must be done to look like flyers

  • Please make sure to space out your flyers so you aren’t spamming the Notice Boards in discord

  • You do not have to sign your name, but you need to give some indication of who you are.

  • Avoid back-and-forth callouts posts. This doesn’t mean you can’t have fun rivalries, but we aren’t anonymously telegraming each other through the notice board.
